Feedback Forum SPECIAL REBALLION EDITION

2008/04/03

Welcome to a special edition of Dattebayo's Feeback Forum. In this edition we're going to address feedback we've received about our recent release, "Bleach Movie Diamond Dust Reballion".

In order to give you guys an idea of what kind of feedback we've received, let's look at the following sample.

From approximately 8:11AM EDT to 1:22PM EDT Dattebayo received 65 messages via our contact page.

Out of these 65 messages, 47 were questions/comments about "Bleach Movie Diamond Dust Reballion" and the remaining messages addressed other issues.

Out of the 47 message about Reballion, 5 people wrote simply asking what it was that they downloaded. You downloaded DB's April Fool's Day troll. It is the Japanese broadcast of the Boston Red Sox vs. Oakland A's game that was played in Japan on March 22 2008. It features both the original audio and commentary from friends of DB staff members. Congratulations and April Fool's!

Two people wrote messages asking how to play the .mkv file. The easiest way is to play it with VLC.

Twenty-seven out of the 47 messages (approximate 57%) were praise from people who enjoyed the troll. Some examples are:

"dude. you guys sure pulled the best april fool joke this year."

"That ball game is awesome guys :) Keep it up, i cant stop laughing. Seriously, thank you for that you dont loose you sense of humour no matter what. Love your releases and great work done."

To those people who "get it" DB would like to say thanks! You prevent us from completely losing faith in humanity!

Another 5 people wrote us informing us that the movie was a fake and asking us to fix it. Thanks, guys, we were aware, and no, we don't plan on "fixing" it.

Four people sent us general angry responses with no major theme, mostly full of curse words and insults. Here's an excerpt from one of those for your enjoyment:

I am positive other leechers will understand, but to be honest, you guys take internet as much serious as a bum does with a job application. So....on behave of all the potentially nice people who download on your website,I will give you guys a big FUCK YOU."

Two people wrote angry messages asking us why we would do such a thing. It is well known that we like to troll, and it was April Fool's Day. Wouldn't it have been a shame to waste such an opportunity? Not to mention, as you can see, the majority of people actually enjoyed the release.

One person wrote an angry message asking us to stop trolling. No.

One person sent us a rant complaining that we wasted their time. Seriously? Did you HAVE to sit and watch the movie download? If you have to babysit your internet connection while you're downloading, you need a new ISP. Either that, or you are the slowest mouse clicker on the planet, and your problems go far beyond getting trolled by fansubbers.

That covers the messages we received during the sample period. However we've also received some other responses in the last couple of days.

Some people wrote thanking us for releasing the 2nd Bleach Movie. Sorry! You were trolled.

Some people wrote complaining they have bandwidth limits and that we wasted their bandwidth. That sucks, but I'm sorry to say, we didn't waste anything. You did. If you have a bandwidth cap, the onus is on you to be a smart downloader. If I had a download cap, I think I would have been a bit more cautious about downloading a large file that was released on April Fool's Day. I might wonder about the misspelling in the title. I might wait awhile before downloading to see if word gets out on forums about the veracity of the file. But maybe that's just me.

Finally, several people have written over the last few days to ask us when we'll actually release Bleach: The DiamondDust Rebellion. Putting aside the fact that these types of questions are not allowed, it stands to reason that the 2nd Bleach movie will be out around a year after the first. And, according to our BitTorrent page, the 1st Bleach movie has only been out for a little over 207 days. That means there's a good 5 months until you can expect a DB release of the movie.

That's it for this SPECIAL EDITION of Dattebayo's Feedback Forum. Happy downloading!
